The So Artsy Entertainment crew threw it down on Friday May 13th at the Luggage Store Gallery in downtown SF with a raucus performance of songs including a preview of some tracks off of Kool Kid Kreyola’s upcoming album Booty Paint, produced by myself. Performing along with Kreyola were Triple Mike, Stoop So Low, Yarrow Slaps and dNa$ty. As well as the performance Kreyola was also featured in the art show with his amazing painting shown above. This show had the crowd rockin and loving every minute of it! Big Thanks to the Luggage Store Gallery for putting this on!
rolled with synthbenji and junkrhythm to the modular synth meet-up at the gilman in berekley this last sunday to get our geek on. most everyone was reppin eurorack but there were some other things going on as well including a beautiful modcan system. lots of metasonix in effect. toppobrillo showin off new stuff. it was a good time, looking forward to the next! check out a few pix:
I had the pleasure of attending the AH annual synth meet held at the Hacker Dojo in Mountainview, CA yesterday. On display were an array of large modular systems along with some rare items and not yet released products. We saw a wall of Serge, a huge Wiard rig, lots of Euro and Frac, a couple of Buchla 200e setups, a Synthi A and various other goodies. The people there were very cool, allowing others to try their equipment and sharing their wisdom such as an in depth discourse on manufacturing from Paul Schreiber or some great EMS history from Peter Brown. It was really cool event and i was particularly pleased to see some of these mythical beats upclose and get the chance to play with a Synthi!
the Eugene Noise fest was a blast! most of the ‘noise’ performances i had seen before were of the shrieking ear piercing variety, so that’s kinda what i had expected.. but quite a few people played droning sound scape style pieces and there even a couple of punk/metal bands. definitely a lot of good music with a number of standout performances! my friend dave and i played together as ‘UpliNk/Relink’ and did a set of warm noisescape leading into distorted beats and audio collage. all in all i had really good time and met some very cool people! much thanks to Don for putting this together and having us play!
This weekend i will be joining my good friend david up in Eugene OR to participate in the Eugene Noise Fest! we will be playing a live set together as some sort of bastard configuration of UpliNkedness. Should be a blast!
