Space Sessions Vol. 1

June 19th, 2009 clavi

This is a dj set i put together for an art opening at Space Gallery in SF. Since it was for an art gallery i figured i could get experimental, which is usually my want when dj’ing. The goal of this set was to include as much synth pioneer / avant garde music as possible while still keeping it kinda groovy. I think it turned out pretty cool and people seemed to dig it.

Pauline Oliveros, John Williams, Bruce Haack, Edgar Varese, Boards of Canada, Philip Glass, Kraftwerk, Meat beat Manifesto, Rosemary Brown, H. Badings, Like A Tim, Dick Hymen, Solvent, Tomita

Maker Faire 09

June 1st, 2009 clavi

Saturday I went to check out Make Magazine’s 4th annual Bay Area Maker Faire in San Mateo, CA. Ive been following Make Magazine for a little while, but missed the faire last year.  As a DIY enthusiast and fan of Make I was pretty excited about going.

I traveled there via bicycle as part of a group ride organized by Berkeley’s Rock the Bike. The route started at Dolores Park and went all the way down to San Mateo, a distance of around 20 miles. There were probably about 100 cyclists on this ride which took 2 hours or so. It was a lot fun and definitely my longest ride so far.

The Faire itself was pretty incredible! There were lots of great things to see, do and buy. The highlight for me was getting to watch the giant twin Tesla coils in action!! Very exciting! Here is a video i took of them:
