i built this for my brother Niall using the schematics and parts list from this page. i went with the silicon transistors version. i think it turned out pretty cool and it was a lot of fun to make!
last night i got to see Philip Glass and Philip Glass Ensemble perform Music in Twelve Parts live in its entirety!! i am pretty into his music, so it was quite a treat to get to see a work like this live!
it was amazing to witness such dexterity of digits and command of purpose from the performers. the music itself like infinite swirls of sound becoming an evolving ocean of currents flowing to and from the surface. i found the vocals particularly intriguing live. sometimes they would blend with the music in a way that i could almost no longer believe that those sounds were coming from a human. the show closed out to the triple standing ovation and all in all was really incredible!
it was held at Davies Symphony Hall which i though was really quite nice, being my first trip there. the show was structured as 4 one hour segments with breaks in between them.
unfortunately i didn’t bring my camera, but it turns out i totally could have. you can see a pic here though.
i tried to scope what keyboards they were using but the backs were painted black and i couldnt quite see the tops of them. i think they may have been roland though. all 3 keyboards they used were the same.
