Doraemon says ‘konnichiwa’ and another phrase.. this little remote i gave him has a button on the side that you can press to make him talk, and a knob that changes his voice from squealing Japaneses hamster to crumbling low growl. the switch turns the knob on and off.
on the back he has an output, a trigger input and a switch to turn off the speaker.
listen to him:

Patamon - 2002
Patamon exclaims his name and sings a little song when you press his tail. the body contact horns let you pitch his squeals up or down by touching them..
last night i went to the launch event for the book “The San Francisco Tape Music Center: 1960s Counter Culture And The Avant-Garde” edited by David Bernstein, and held the the park branch of the public library in SF. it featured a panel discussion with the founders of the Tape Music Center including Ramon Sender, Morton Subotnik and also Don Buchla
initially there were so many people there that they had to ask some to leave so the fire marshall wouldnt shut it down. i managed to stick around..
there was some great discussion on the origin of the Music Center, the compositions of various participants and processes used in creating them, as well as details of the Center’s equipment.
Also on display was the first Buchla synthesizer.. the ‘Buchla Box’! it was built for the SFTMC with their input. a beautiful old and worn modular system which is now in possession of Mills College. Morton Subotnik even did a brief demonstration on it!
unfortunately at this point the Buchla Box was only partially functional, but it was still amazing to hear this incredible instrument and piece of synthesizer history.
awesome! left side is sequencers and control, right side is sound sources and effecting. view the full size image for a closer look at some of the modules. (full size)
you can get the book (which also includes a dvd of performances and pieces by SFTMC participants) at amazon or The Booksmith in SF.
the first 2 UpliNk albums, 1996’s ‘Suburban Subversions and Subtle Subterfuge’ and 1997’s ‘VITRIOL’ have been uploaded to the ‘UpliNk Music‘ page. available for listening or download.
both feature plenty of Roland gear and electro/techno grooves, Suburban Subversions is more jam based and VITRIOL shows a little more composition with the introduction of computer sequencing and more sample work.
a dj mix done in the summer of 2002. down tempo and moody electro.
awake in the morning to a nice cool breeze coming in the window.. sound of birds chirping.. fragments of images fading from the mind.. put on some music and relax for awhile.. then fall back to sleep. this is a dream i had..
